What's your philosophy?

August 12, 2020

How do you know if you’ve improved? How do you know if you’re even heading in the right direction?

What I’ve discovered is that it comes down to your philosophy.

What I mean by philosophy, is the measuring stick you place against yourself. The values or rules that you follow in your life. The way you act, the way you treat people. This is all a part of your philosophy.

  • How to set goals
  • How to live each day
  • Who to spend time with
  • What to pursue in work

If you don’t write down your philosophy it’s easy to lie to yourself. It’s easy to tell yourself a story that isn’t true. It’s easy to say, “it’s just this one time”. But is it really just the one time? Or is it a pattern? Do you procrastinate? Or do you actually do what matters to you?

How you spend your time is a reflection of how you see yourself; every day is a vote for who you want to be. Make sure your vote counts.

Here’s my philosophy:

  • Put people & relationships first
  • Come from a place of compassion & understanding
  • Be present
  • Give more than you recieve
  • Find joy, happiness & laughter daily
  • Listen to your heart
  • Be inspired by imagination
  • Think long term

I try to follow these values as closely as I can; it’s not easy, but it is worth it.
